Decided by the Press Ombudsman

The Press Ombudsman has not upheld a complaint that The Irish Times breached Principle 8 (Prejudice) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The Press Ombudsman has not upheld a complaint made by Mr Dan Duane that the Irish Examiner breached Principles 1 (Truth and Accuracy) and Principle 4 (Respect for Rights) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The Press Ombudsman has decided not to uphold a complaint made by a couple that Irishmirror.ie breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy), Principle 2 (Distinguishing Fact and Comment), Principle 3 (Fair Procedures and Honesty), Principle 4 (Respect for Rights) and Principle 5 (Privacy) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The Press Ombudsman has upheld a complaint made by a mother that Extra.ie breached Principle 4 (Respect for Rights), Principle 5 (Privacy) and Principle 9 (Children) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The Press Ombudsman has decided that the Sunday Independent offered to take action sufficient to resolve a complaint by SIPTU that Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) and Principle 4 (Respect for Rights) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland had been breached.

The Press Ombudsman, on 31 August 2018, had upheld a complaint that The Sunday Times breached Principle 5.4 of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland. Principle 5.4 states:

The Press Ombudsman has not upheld a complaint made by Mayo County Council that the Sunday Independent breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) and Principle 3 (Fair Procedures and Honesty) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The Press Ombudsman has not upheld a complaint that the Irish Independent breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.  He has insufficient evidence available to him to make a decision on another part of the complaint.

The Press Ombudsman has determined that there is insufficient evidence available to make a decision on a complaint made by a Man that the Herald breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The Press Ombudsman has not upheld a complaint that the Wexford People breached Principle 9 (Children) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.
