The appeal from the newspaper was heard by the Press Council of Ireland at its meeting on 13th April 2012. The Council decided to uphold the decision of the Press Ombudsman.
However, The Council does accept the supporting material provided by the newspaper as evidence of wrongdoing by some groups of Travellers, but it was insufficient to support the generalizations complained of.
