Dr Abrahamson accepted the decision of the Press Ombudsman but appealed to the Press Council of Ireland on two points relating to (1) the day of the week on which the clarification was published; and (2) the manner of the on-line publication of the clarification.
The Press Council discussed the appeal on 17 April 2015. It fully supported the manner of publication of the on-line clarification. The Press Council accepted that the printed clarification was published on the wrong day in error, but decided that the clarification was required to be re-published on a Saturday.
