At its meeting on 8 September 2017, the Press Council considered the grounds for an appeal from Mr O'Rourke regarding the Press Ombudsman's decision. The appeal cited two grounds viz. that there was an error in procedure and that there was an error in the Press Ombudsman's application of the Code of Practice. The Council decided that there was insufficient evidence to support the appeal on either ground and that the decision of the Press Ombudsman therefore stands.
