458/2020 - Mr Andrew Shannon and the Irish Sun

Mr Shannon appealed the decision of the Press Ombudsman to the Press Council of Ireland on the grounds that there had been an error in the Press Ombudsman’s application of the Code of Practice.

At its meeting on 4 December 2020 the Press Council considered the appeal and decided to reject it on the grounds that the Press Ombudsman had not erred in his application of the Code because the Council agreed with the conclusions reached by him in his decision.
