The Press Ombudsman has not upheld a complaint that the Northern Standard breached Principle 5 (Privacy) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The Press Ombudsman has upheld a complaint that The Irish Times breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The Press Ombudsman has decided that The Sunday Times offered to take action which was sufficient to resolve a complaint made by Mr Dan Duane that Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland had been breached.

The Press Ombudsman has upheld a complaint made by Mr Jim Corr that the Sunday World breached Principle 4 (Respect for Rights) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.

The 2018 Annual Report of The Press Council of Ireland and the Office of the Press Ombudsman was launched today (29 May 2019) at an event in Buswells Hotel, Molesworth Street, Dublin 2. 

On  25 February 2019 a sub-committee of the Press Council of Ireland upheld a complaint from Mr Ken O’Shea that articles published by The Sunday Business Post on 16 September 2018 breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy), Principle 2 (Distinguishing Fact and Comment) and Principle 4 (Respect for Rights) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.  Other parts of the complaint were not upheld. 

The Press Ombudsman decided to uphold a complaint by Mr Colm Keaveney that The Irish Times breached Principle 1 (Truth and Accuracy) of the Code of Practice of the Press Council of Ireland.
